How to track reading by pages

Pages are useful when you want a concrete reading target and usually read books with similar density. Minutes may fit better when your material varies widely. Pick the measure that makes starting obvious.

Begin with a small amount

Choose a page target you can complete on a normal day, not your most ambitious one. Ten pages is easier to place than “read more,” and it gives you a clear stopping point when time is short.

Log what you actually read

If you read six pages, record six. Partial progress shows the habit is underway and gives you better information than an all-or-nothing checkmark. Avoid adding extra pages later just to make the chart look complete.

Review once a week

Look for practical patterns: which days made reading easy, when the goal felt too large, and whether another time of day would reduce friction. Change the target when it no longer helps you begin.
